So for 2018 Chinese New Year holiday, my family and I decided to go to Melaka (I know, again!). Actually, it was me who decided that since I saw posts about Masbro village and I wanna take pictures there badly HAHA!
Oh come on, great picture is a must when travelling. We all know that!
My sister got married last year and now she's living in Malacca so it's like, visiting her and having fun at the same time! So we book the homestay only for 1 night (save bajet lol) and stay at my sister's house for another night.
|| MASBRO VILLAGE
Okay first of all, this village is not located in the city. It takes around 30-40 minutes to the city but of course that doesn't include time you're stuck in the traffic. One thing you should know if you're coming to Malacca on holidays & weekends (yes lots of tourists from overseas here!), the traffic is bad because there're so many people come to spend their time & travel to Malacca, even locals!So if you got transport & wanna explore more side of Malacca, or if you want to escape from the city, then you can come here. But if you don't, find another accommodation that's near the main attractions.
The village is just beside a big road and it's doesn't really stand out from the road. My sisters drove passed the road for so many times and they never even realize that the homestay is there all the time! One thing I like about this village is it's quiet and peaceful.
|| CHECKING IN
look at this uniquely crazy receptionist table!
Come, let me show you around!
The carpark for guests is inside the village and there's a kedai makan (food stall) beside the village but it only opens at night. Once the gate is opened, you can directly drive inside and park. The receptionist is the only square (or rectangle, whatever- it's not triangle) shaped building at the front.
The staff at receptionist was good and friendly. We need to fill in a form, and the staff will check our reservation in their system. You must pay RM 100.00 for deposit and they will return the deposit to you once you return the key after checking out.
|| THE HOMESTAY
First ImpressionsFirst impressions are good (except the checking in part which the gate will only open at 3:00 pm, but what to do haha!). We walked in happily as we were like, "OMG I feel like I'm walking in the picture I always browse!". The houses are so colorful, and the host were friendly. It doesn't feel like we were in Malaysia HAHAHA! okay over sikit.
This homestay consists of 2 big beds, and can accommodate to max of 6 person. Additional person (max 2 pax only) will be charged RM 30.00 per pax. There was a sofa-bed (sofa u can turn into bed) at our homestay and the staff already turned it to bed and put pillows and blankets for us as 2 beds might not be enough for us (4 adults & 1 kids).
No rooms, and it is a 2-storey house. I would not suggest this place for honeymoon couples because yeah, no room. and it's too big for 2 person.
They provide microwave, water heater, fridge, some kitchenware and there'll be tv with basic Astro channels to. I wish they provide toilet tissue, iron & hairdryer 😅 Oh ya, the blue bed on the left is the sofa bed I mentioned.
Safety
This homestay is a bunch of homes in a gated area. The management will close the gate (and lock 'em) after 1200 am, for safety reasons. Worry not, each homes will be provided with 2 keys- 1 for home, 1 for main gate.
I like the idea, but I wish they have kunci selak/ chain lock that we can lock from inside, like the ones at the hotel rooms because the only key for the homestay is the door knob. Nope, no extra lock from the insides (not in our house la).
I wish they install this!
|| OVERALL EXPERIENCE
This place is perfect to those who plan to rest with family. It's quiet at night, and the café inside the homestay wasn't open yet when we came. It would definitely be better & more lively once the café is open after this.
This is a cute place to take picture, but the only entertainment there is the swimming pool. And you can't swim after 7.00 pm due to safety and there'll be no lifeguard. So parents- please keep an eye on your children ya!
Overall, I rate this homestay :
4 stars for the service- staff peramah, no durians, alcohol and pet not is allowed
4.5 stars for the cleanliness
3.0 stars for the safety - no extra lock from the inside
Will I come again?
It's a peaceful place but I'm done with taking pictures here so I'm gonna go somewhere else.
Will I recommend this place?
Yes especially to Muslims in terms of cleanliness.
