SOME BY MI YUJA NIACIN BRIGHTENING SLEEPING MASK | REVIEW

June 26, 2020

Assalamualaikum and hello~~

Another skincare review!

Vitamin C is gaining a special attention for its brightening function and how it makes your skin glowing. And many love to use it as night time routine (especially me), as we just need to dab it on our face and go to sleep right away.

And expect magic to happen and suddenly wake up being beautiful HAHA (I mean, who don't?)

||  YUJA NIACIN BRIGHTENING SLEEPING MASK

As the name stated, this is a sleeping mask that claims to brighten your skin.

Yuja Niacin Brightening Sleeping Mask, it has Whitening & Anti-wrinkle function. Brightens and moisturises skin with 70% of Goheung Yuja Extract. Improves skin tone and brightens skin with Glutathione, Arbutin and Resmelin.
Yuja extract is said to have more vitamin C than lemon and is really effective in brightening skin. And the fact that it's a sleeping mask really makes me excited to try it on. Of course, I started with trial pack as usual, and I immediately fall in love with it and purchase full sized product hehe.

trial size
full size
You can get yours from their official shopee HERE.

||  THE INGREDIENTS

This sleeping mask is packed with the ingredients that's gonna attract you badly. It includes Vitamin C, Niacinamide, Arbutin and many more! The fact that it contains niacinamide and Arbutin alone is enough to turn my head and see what more does this product offers.

Citrus Junos Fruit Extract, Water, Butylene Glycol, Niacinamide, Glycerin, Panthenol, 1,2-Hexanediol, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Thuja Orientals Leaf Extract, Zanthoxylum Schinifolum Leaf Extract, Polygonum Cuspidatum root Extract, Mentha Piperita (Peppermint) leaf Extract, Mentha Aquatica Leaf Extract, Mentha Rotundifolia Leaf Extract, nelumbo Nucifera Flower Extract, Coptis Japonica Extract, Hippophae Rhamnodes Fruit Extract, Arbutin, Glutathione, Ascorbic Acid, Ascorbyl Glucoside, Biotin, Tocopherol, Cyanocobalamin, (-)-alpha-bisabolol, Ascorbyl Tetraisopalmitate, Menadione, Arginine, Trehalose, Madecassoside, Aenoside, Diphenylsiloxy Phenyl Trimethicone, Caprylyl Methicone, Inulin Lauryl Carbamate, Behenyl Alcohol, Sorbitan Oleate, Sorbitan Isostearate, Caprylyl/ Capryl Glucoside, Polyisobutene, Xanthan Gum, Carbomer, Acrylates/ C10-30 Alkyl Acrylate Crosspolymer, Dimethicone/ Phenyl Vinyl Dimethicone Crosspolymer, Benzyl Glycol, Ethylhexyglycerin, Raspberry Ketone, Disodium EDTA, Citrus Junos Peel Oil (3,000 ppm)

||  PACKAGING

As for the packaging, the trial pack comes in a plastic container with no box, while the full size comes in a plastic container (looks like glass tho) + plastic cover and comes with box.

I was quite worried on the plastic cover of the full sized ones as it seems thin and not able to cover the product from spilling, but I'm really glad I was wrong. The description on the jar itself is clear and the box stated everything we need to know about the product. (some products didn't disclose everything and sometimes we need to google them and I dont like it, leceh mak aih!)

but they're in Korean. If you don't know Korean, you still need to google tho.

And since they represents Yuja and Vitamin C, the packaging is yellow in color.

||  TEXTURE & DETAILS

Reviews online from Korean said that this smells like Yuja, and since I don't know how the real Yuja smells like, I'm gonna say that this gel-type mask smells like orange peel. It got some tanginess, a little bit of sweetness, but it's more to a bitter orange peel.

this is right after being applied. It will be absorbed in a short time and doesn't leave any sticky feeling.

The bitter + tangy smell from an orange peel smells exactly like this sleeping mask.

🍋 Gel-like texture, but it melts on your skin
🍋 Texture slightly watery compared to Klairs Vitamin E mask, but both melts when applied to skin
🍋 Smells like orange peel (korean said it's like Yuja but Idk how Yuja smells haha)
🍋 Light yellow color
🍋 Absorbs well and not sticky
🍋 Packaging is quite nice
🍋 Trial pack is in plastic container, and full size is in a plastic container but it looks like glass haha
🍋 The scent surprisingly kinda makes me relax

||  HOW TO USE

I told you why I love sleeping mask, right? Because it's easy to use! Here's how I use this sleeping mask :

Cleanser → toner  → Ampoule or serum  →  sleeping mask

Then I go to sleep!

All you need to do is to wash your face off in the morning with lukewarm water, and done. Your skin will look so healthy and brighter. It doesn't look too bright though, I mean if you have Malay-colored skin, you can't expect to have Korean-colored skin with only 1 use. Use this constantly and you will see your skin becomes fairer, glowing and healthier.

||  MY REVIEWS

4FINGERS KOMTAR JBCC | REVIEW

June 15, 2020

Assalamualaikum and hello everyone!

4Fingers is a famous fast food restaurant, originated from Singapore (Yes, not Korea haha). A lot of restaurants started to re-open their business during CMCO, and dining in the restaurants have been permitted too, but of course with conditions. I was kinda afraid to dine out, since we are fighting something we can't see so it's best to just stay inside. But I really do miss eating outside a lot!

So after a few weeks, we decided to give it a try and the first restaurant we went is 4Fingers.

This is the second time I'm here at 4Fingers, and the last time I went as about 2 years ago HAHA. It really took me long to write this post because I kinda wanna eat here for the at least one more time before writing this post just to be sure of my review.

And my husband (was bf back then), was overseas for 2 years so I went to eat with my friend first. I've been promising him that I would take him to 4Fingers but it's been more than 1 year since he's back in Malaysia and we are already married  but I still havent fulfill my pomise haha! Plus, the nearest branch is in the middle of JB city where the road is ALWAYS jammed and packed, and we'd rather change our plan than to drive there.

||          THE RESTAURANT

Since CMCO nowadays, the vehicle on the road are not as much as before (it was almost empty) and we decided that it's the perfect time to go there if we wanna avoid the traffic. But of course, we need to be extra cautious and follow all the regulations to go outside during this time.

The one we went is at the Komtar JBCC (People who have been here know how packed and rude the attitude of some of the public transport drivers are HAHA). The roads are the ones that busy, but once you get inside the Komtar JBCC, everything's great. There's not much issue on parking too. Just the traffic outside haha.

The restaurant is not that big, but the ambience is nice. It's quite clean, and it also follows every regulations set by the Government to operate during CMCO. The food here is actually available for delivery and takeaway too.

The restaurant has been here for years, but the queue is still long despite CMCO. But most of them choose to takeaway instead of dine-in.

||          THE MENU

The menu here is just simple, and not too many choices available but complete. I mean, you want fried chicken? They have it. Fried seafood? They have it. Burgers? Yep, only a few choices available but they have it, and Rice? Yes, they have rice!

They offers fried chicken & seafood, rice box, burgers and salad, which comes in set or a la carte. And you can choose what  glaze you want on your chicken, whether soy sauce, hot sauce, or mix both!

Here are what the menu looks like :

click HERE for full menu on their website 😁

||          THE FOOD

The food here is served upon orders. What you'll get when you order at the counter is just a cup filled with ice and a pager which will vibrate when your order is ready. As for drinks, they are refillable and the options are just like other fast food chain.

Just go directly to kitchen counter to collect your chicken, dont go to ordering counter ya haha.

My husband and I both love the fried chicken, I think the mixed glaze sauce is goood, and I can't decide whether the spicy or mixed one because they're both delicious. The only thing lacking here is the amount of the glaze. Both of us totally agree with that. The last time I went here, the restaurant was really packed with people and the glaze was even lesser than what we got haha. I'm glad this time it's better.

more glaze, please!

As for the fried chicken itself, the batter is really crispy and it's not oily at all. So far, the fried chicken here is has the crunchiest batter, in a really good way. I mean, if we combine this fried chicken with kFry yangnyeom sauce or honey lemon sauce, it'd be 100% PERFECT! hahaha (seriously).

||          HONEST REVIEW

*Drumrolls...
⭐ 4.7 Overall; just because the glaze sikit.
⭐ 4.9 Crispyness of the chicken (it's really crunchy!)
⭐ 4.8 Glaze taste
⭐ 4.2 Glaze amount (I wish they coat the chicken better)
⭐ 4.8 for the ambience
⭐ 4.7 for the service
⭐ 4.8 for the price
⭐ 4.8 for the cleanliness

If you ask me to compare with other fried chicken, i cant say which one is the better ones because each of them has their own specialties

The only cons here is that the glaze amount is too little, and some are not coated enough. If the chicken was coated with more glze, i'm sure as hell will give them more stars!

Till then,
Thank you for reading this entry!

GUIDE TO SUNSCREEN

June 6, 2020

Assalamualaikum and helooo~

So,

I started the Guide to Healthy skin posts with Cleansing 101 (Part 1 and Part 2), and now moving on to sunscreen. I know I actually skip some steps, as there are actually toning, serums, etc after cleansing to restore skin moisture, but we'll get back to that later okay?

Main reason why I go straight to sunscreen is because sunscreen is a hot topic, and since exfoliation products starting to gain a lot of interest and popularity, people just focus on exfoliating and many don't even use sunblock while they actively use exfoliating products.

Let me remind you again, Sunscreen is REALLY IMPORTANT especially for long term and for those who use exfoliation products. Okay scratch that, sunscreen is important for EVERYONE! And... direct expose to sunlight might cause many skin problems, including skin cancer!

||        SUNBLOCK OR SUNSCREEN?

I got asked so many times, "Sunblock ke Sunsreen weh?"

They're basically the same thing as both help us to protect our skin from the dangerous UV rays, and the difference is the terms used based on the ingredients. Different ingredients determine how the product works, either they block the UV rays from entering our skin or they absorb it to our skin and change it to heat which is then released from the skin.

So, are sunblock and sunscreens the same? Yes, they're basically the same thing. So suka hati koranglah nk panggil apa.

There are actually 3 types of sunscreen (aku guna term sunscreen sebab cam lagi fancy je kahkah) namely:
1. Chemical
2. Phyical (natural)
3. Hybrid

Bukan kereta je ada Hybrid k, suncreen pon ada.

||        SUNSCREEN COMPARISON - CHEMICAL vs PHYSICAL vs HYBRID

Of course, there are pros and cons of each products, even the natural one (Physical Sunblock) have their cons. It's gonna take long to explain 1 by 1 so here's a comparison between all 3 types of sunscreen :

Okay I'm gonna explain a bit if you still don't understand (sebab i baik hati kan, lalala~).

Chemical sunscreen absorbs UV rays as it enters our skin and change it to heat which is then released from skin as infrared rays. But Physical sunblock stays on top of our skin (imagine a layer of sunscreen on top of our skin), and it reflects UV rays. Physical sunscreen does not absorb UV rays like chemical sunscreen, and it works immediately after being applied to our skin while Chemical sunscreen needs a few minutes to work after being applied to our skin.

I don't really mind the white cast by using physical sunscreen but physical sunscreen doesn't blend really well with makeup. And since my skin is okay with chemical sunscreen, I choose to keep using chemical sunscreen!

||        UVA & UVB

The sunlight we see with our bare eyes actually consists of both UVA and UVB. Both UVA and UVB are harmful to our bare skin, in a different way.

UVA
UVA penetrates deeper into the skin layers, which cause a more long-term damaging effect. Since it penetrates deep inside our skin layers, it affects the cells and damage them. This caused wrinkles and results in our skin being saggy- In short = Ageing skin.

UVB
Unlike UVA, UVB only hit the most surface layer of our skin. This caused swelling, redness, sunburn, freckles, age spots and dark spots, and other kinds of skin pigmentation. This type of sun rays is what caused sunburns.

||        WHAT IS SPF , PA+++ & BROAD SPECTRUM?

SPF = Sun Protection Factor (Protection against UVB)
PA+++ = Protection against UVA
Broad Spectrum = Protection against both UVA and UVB

Remember I told you that there are 2 types of UV rays, UVA and UVB?
SPF only protect our skin from UVB, and PA+++ protects our skin from UVA. So, find yourself a sunscreen that contains both SPF and PA+++ instead of just SPF. As SPF use numbers to indicate the total protection offered, PA use +++, which means the more +, the better protection it offers.

BUT, the higher the SPF doesn't necessarily  means that a sunscreen is better. This is because sunscreen needs to be re-applied every 2-3 hours, and according to Dr.Oz, SPF 30 to 50 should be fine and after 50, the gains are marginal and mostly get mixed by sweating and rubbing.

Many people just focus on finding a sunscreen that contains high SPF, and completely ignore PA+++. It's only okay to ignore PA+++ if the sunscreen is a Broad Spectrum type, as Broad Spectrum protects our skin from both UVA and UVB.

Why some sunscreen shows PA+++, while some others show "Broad Spectrum"?

PA+++ is usually sunscreen from Japan and Korea, while Broad Spectrum are usually sunscreens from western countries, thus, the different terms.

Also, keep in mind that UV rays are the harshest when our shadows are the shortest, which is in the afternoon where the sun is really hot and strong.

||        HOW MUCH SUNSCREEN DO WE NEED TO APPLY?

No matter how expensive and well known effective your sunscreen is, it wont matter if you don't apply it the right way and the right amount.

The right amount is two fingertip units for your whole face, a.k.a dua ruas jari, or about 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen for your whole face. Less than this can be considered useless as it doesnt give us the protection our skin needed.

Also, don't forget to re-apply your sunscreen every 2-3 hours okay? If you're swimming or having outdoor activities that makes you sweat, please reapply right after your activities.

||        SPF IN MAKEUP PRODUCTS

I often heard girls' conversation at beauty store, saying they need makeup with higher SPF so that they doesn't need to use sunscreen.

GIRLS, U ARE WRONG!

It is true, that makeup contains SPF but they are not enough for our skin. Of course you can use the foundation as a replacement for your sunscreen, but you're gonna need a whole lot of it! If 1/4 teaspoon of sunscreen is needed for SPF for the whole face, you are gonna need around 10 to 12 pumps of your foundation to get the SPF needed.

how . much . is . that ?

I mean, the most I use is just 1-2 pumps of foundation and it already feels thick. Imangine 10 pumps hahaha! That amount of foundation doesn't just clog your pores, your skin can't even breathe and it's gonna make your skin condition even worst. And, please don't do your own math! Someone once said to me, if foundation have SPF30, and my face podwer is SPF20, I got SPF 50 in total! NOOOOOO! that's not true at all!
So please don't just rely solely on make up products' SPF. And products combined doesn't add on their SPF total okeh, mandai je hahaha! terhibur sistur.

||        THE ORDER TO PUT ON SUNSCREEN

Sunscreen needs to be added at the END of skincare routine, but BEFORE your makeup. You don't need to apply sunscreen at night, so this is the step to put on sunscreen in the morning :

Cleanser > Toner > Serum > Eye Cream  > Moisturizer > Sunscreen > Primer (and then start your makeup routine)

If you're not wearing any makeup, stop at sunscreen.

I often get asked whether it's moisturizer first, or serum first? I'd say, go with the lighter texture first, and thicker texture later. If your serum is thicker than moisturizer, then put moisturizer first. And for night skincare order, change sunscreen to leave-on sleeping mask and you're good to go!

||        WHICH SUNSCREEN IS THE BEST FOR MY SKIN?

Everyone has a different skin types, and each of them is unique. So what's best for me might not best for you. I will do review on sunscreen that I've tried and personally like later (I will put the link here), but the best sunscreen is different for everyone. If you don't mind the whitecast, you can go with the Physical Sunscreen and if you hate white cast, you can go to chemical sunscreen.

As for me, I don't mind the white cast BUT I prefer chemical sunscreen as it goes better with makeup.  And there are tons of different brands of sunscreen out there, and my advise is to find the ones that suits your skin types.

But here are tips for choosing sunscreen :
1. At least SPF 30
2. Don't forget PA+++, or Broad Spectrum. If there's no PA+++ or Broad Spectrum on the label, find other suscreen
3. If you have sensitive skin, I'd advise you to go with Physical sunscreen as it's from natural ingredients.
4. Choose according to your skin type (Don't use sunscreen for oily skin if you have dry skin!)
5. Read reviews on blog, youtube, and online shops beforepurchasing & trying out new products.

Okayyy that's all for sunscreen. I really hope this post helps.

Btw korang, Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Maaf Zahir & Batin untuk yg mengenali saya! Walaupon sedih gilaaa tahun ni tak dapat balik beraya kat kampung ibu (we planned since last year!), I'm cool as long as everyone's healthy and lets do our best to do social distancing!
