ABIB QUICK SUNSTICK PROTECTION BAR REVIEW

April 12, 2024

 Assalamualaikum and hi everyone!

Aside from toner, sunscreen is one of the most important skincare for me and I really can't live without it (way to exagerate but it's true haha!). This is also why most of skincare review you can find on my blog is mostly toner and sunscreen. I'm on search for skincare that is fragrance free and many brands do support G*cide and I'm trying my best to find substitutes for them.

Please keep in mind that my skin type is dry and dehydrated, so if you have oily or combination skin, you might not wanna depend on my review as our skin type is different. I am also not sponsored to write the review but this post contains affiliate links.

  ABOUT ABIB

Abib is a brand from South Korea that was founded on 2018. ABIB means "the first month" in Hebrew, representing their goal to help skin cycle back to its prime, natural complexion. This is done by focusing the functions of their products to help skin heals from within while avoiding and remove the usage of toxic ingredients on skin.

Honestly, this sunscreen is on a pricier side but I do need to use fragrance-free products for now as my skin is healing from some skincare I tried previously. My trick is always buy them on sale AND during live stream. I got so many vouchers and save a lot!

  QUICK SUNSTICK PROTECTION BAR

As the name suggests, this is a bar / stick type of sunscreen. I purposely choose sunstick this time as I will be travelling, and I want to reapply my sun protection easily but I don't want spray type as it kinda attract attention lol (it produces spraying sound hahah). I shortlisted several types of sunstick that are fragrance-free and G*cide-free but I choose to buy Abib as it has many great reviews, especially for people with dry and dehydrated skin.

Abib Quick Sunstick Protection bar comes with SPF50+ PA++++ and it is a chemical sunscreen so it doesn't leave any white cast. It contains ingredients with soothing properties including Aloe, Centella, Cucumber Fruit Extract Ceramide NP. The curve shape makes it very quicker and easier to apply, even around nose and eye areas.

  THE INGREDIENTS

Octyldodecanol, Butylene Glycol Dicaprylate/Dicaprate, Ethylhexyl Methoxycinnamate, Dibutyl Ethylhexanoyl Glutamide, Dibutyl Lauroyl Glutamide, Diisostearyl Malate, Ethylhexyl Salicylate, Diethylamino Hydroxybenzoyl Hexyl Benzoate, Bis-Ethylhexyloxyphenol Methoxyphenyl Triazine, Dextrin Palmitate, Octocrylene, Hydrolyzed Vegetable Protein , Camellia Sinensis Leaf Extract, Centella Asiatica Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Cucumis Sativus (Cucumber) Fruit Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Water, Butylene Glycol, Saccharide Isomerate, Glycerin, Maltodextrin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Hydrogenated Lecithin, Ethyl Hexanediol, Ceramide NP, Citric Acid, Sodium Citrate, Ethylhexylglycerin, Phenoxyethanol

Key ingredients:

  • Camellia sinesis leaf extract - antioxidant, soothing
  • Centella asiatica - soothing, calming, moisturizing
  • Aloe Vera - soothing, moisturizing
  • Cucumber extract - soothing, emollient

This sunstick contains no fragrance, no alcohol, no silicon, no sulfate, no paraben and no oil.

TEXTURE, PACKAGING, & HOW TO USE

The texture is somewhat balmy but once applied to the skin, it absorbs well and doesn't make your skin sticky. However, I won't recommend this sunstick to those with oily skin as I think it won't do them justice since the formulation and the texture might make their skin looks so shiny. It may be a little heavy on oily / combination skin type too, which seems to be true based on reviews I read. But for dry and dehydrated skin? Cheffs kiss!

Packaging is simple and super easy to use. I bought another sunstick prior to this and I do find that the curvy shape of Abib sunstick really makes it easier and quicker to apply.

How to use:

1. Slightly twist the dial on the bottom

2. Lightly drag the product to your face to apply

3. Reapply when needed (recommended every 2 - 3 hours)

I personally used this over makeup and it doesn't make my makeup smudge, but please keep in mind that I don't wear heavy makeup.

  MY REVIEW

As mentioned earlier, my skin type is dry and dehydrated so the pros and cons may differ from people with oily or combination skin.

Pros:

🌞   Very easy to use

🌞   No white cast

🌞   Very moisturizing

🌞   Doesn't irritate eyes and skin

🌞   Smooth finish

🌞   Curvy shape really helps in making application quicker and easier

🌞   Gentle on skin

🌞   Free from fragrance, silicon, alcohol, sulfate and paraben

🌞   Portable, won't spill

Cons:

💛   I really don't think people with oily / combination skin will love this at it's quite balmy

💛   Price is too expensive (RM110 if not on sale)

Price & where to grab:

I definitely recommend you to get them on Abib official Shopee especially during payday sale as it can go as low as RM66 per stick and you can get extra voucher from Shopee too. So please remember to claim Shopee monthly voucher and Shopee live voucher for extra savings. You can also get it from Hermo or IB Beauty. I got them for under RM50 during sales and with extra vouchers!

That's all, thanks for reading!
